The University of Denver's current policy was adopted in 2008, which was revised from an earlier 1993 version. The only substantial change between the two policies is the royalty share for inventors when the royalty or income is between $5,000 and $25,000.

Where royalty or other income is received by the University of Denver as a result of successful commercialization of an invention, in excess of costs of patenting, licensing, and other direct costs of commercialization, the University will share such revenues with the inventor(s) and the Department(s) or Division(s) to which the inventor is assigned on the date of disclosure according to the following schedule:

For income of $0-$25,000, the inventor receives 100%. For income of $25,001-$50,000, the inventor receives 40% of the amount over $5,000. For income greater than $50,000, the inventor receives 33 1/3% of the amount over $50,000.
