2002 Policy

University of Maine Statement of Policy Governing Patents and Copyrights

It is hereby agreed that:

For the first $100,000 of cumulative net income the default minimum distribution shall be as follows: 50% to the faculty creator / inventor; 50% to the University.

For cumulative net income in excess of $100,000 the default minimum distribution shall be as follows: 50% to the faculty creator / inventor; 50% to the University.

1986 Policy

University of Maine Patents and Copyrights (1986)

Income realized from copyrights or patents resulting from University-assisted or University-assigned work under this policy shall be divided as follows:

1. 15% of gross income to the scholar,

2. 5% of gross income to the scholar's department or other administrative unit, and

3. 80% to the University.
